Pastels
– Bring what you have, we will discuss materials 1st session

You will need a set of “hard pastels” or “medium-hard” such as;
Faber-Castell Polychromos 48 Assorted or 120 Complete Set or
Design NuPastels, 96 piece set or
Rembrandt pastels, 45 piece set or larger (these are medium-hard)
¨
You will also need some medium and soft pastels such as; these can be
added later, do not need right away.

Sennelier half stick sets (soft)
Schminke Pastels (soft) These are wonderful for skies

One or two sticks of NuPastel 298P (bottle green) or one each of Unison
Green 13 and A43 (very dark greens), One stick of Schminke white

2 or 3 old brushes to use for underpainting
¨
Portable easel or table easel
¨
Drawing board, 18x24, 3/16” foam core, masonite, gatorbaord, or clear
plywood
¨
Extra soft thin vine charcoal, 3 or 4 sticks
¨
Turpenoid (synthetic turpentine), pint size, No Turpentine or other
strong smelling solvents. (do not buy Natural)
¨
Finger cots (longs carries these) optional, to protect fingers
¨
Paper towels, wet-wipes, masking tape
